psat as a sophomore

not making excuses but honestly I was not prepared for it
skipped breakfast

up doing a history project the night before

I actually almost missed the test because I didn't know that it was that day

but I got a 1810

65 critical reading
64 math
52 writing

my teacher said studying (which I haven't yet) will help a lot

how much is it possible to raise this before the real sat's next year

I thought I'd get higher than this =/

don’t worry, you have plenty of time to up your score, you need to develop solid study habits and stick to them :D

any suggestions? I’m trying to do as much research and prep I can in a year lol

if your not too clear what to study for, i recommend you take an SAT course either online or at a class

Are those absurdly expensive?

Yes they are. Don’t take them.
Buy the blue book.
Do a practice section once or twice a week. The day after you complete it, check your answers and go back and do every single question again to know why those answers are correct.
The questions repeat themselves.

the actual title of the blue book: The Official SAT Study Guide, its really cheap, only about 25 bucks, its really helpful

i got the same as you soph. year and got a 2250 on Oct. SAT junior year.

advice… READ READ READ. It will increase both your reading AND writing scores. If you want to get into your dream school, give up tv for a year and read instead. Because trust me, an 1810 is not that great, but you can do it!!

oh and for math i would just recommend taking a prep class or sumthin.

i cannot stress enough how important reading is. make sure you read “The Great Gatsby” before you take the test, you can take great examples from this book when you are writing the essay

WOW ! thank everyone for everything! and the B of Living thanks. its reassuring to know someone else made that much of a jump

My daughter went from 185 to 211. However, she only did the SAT questions of the day for about 2 months. With real studying I’m sure you can improve quite a bit.
