PSAT cr discussion

just a few queestions. the passage about the spacefarers - what was the point of them creating their language? i forget how that question was worded.

and what was the author's attitude about hollywood?

for the last q on the spacefarers one i said they created the language because they had to adapt toe nvironment or something along those lines. in the passage it said that the blood rushed to their head and changed their tone so they had to adapt to that.

hollywood attitude i put the one that started with the letter 'i' i dont know how helpful thlat is lol

lol wtheck... i just created a cr thread... oh well might as well have more than one...

hollywood attitude??!! what?? i dont remember this at all... hmm

and then the spacefarers one i said respond to unprecedented circumstances
this one almost got me because i almost chose a different answer - to help communication between scientists and layman, but the problem is, its only to help scientists communicate with other scientists, not with layman. the passage even says that this language may lead to exclusivity.

for spacefarer i said unprecedented circumstances
was hollywood attitude derisive?

i dont think so, that means mocking or jeering...

so what did you say for it? i dont really remember the other choices, but I thought that everything else was positive. was derisive one of the answers though?

ok i said that the point was to create a universal language but oh well. and I said derisive also. What about the one that said what is another possible meaning for "took" was the answer glean? or withstood?

yes, glean was an answer.

i put the one that started with an "i" for the hollywood one

lol derisive riiight i remember! yeah i put derisive... sorry dark starbursts... 3 to one so far. OH YEAH! i remember, it was talking about hollywood being slave to trends. definitely not positive.

i said glean as well.

I agree with glean and derisive, and I'm pretty sure I went with "because of unprecedented circumstances."

ok good thats what i said. does anybody remember that word that started with an i. i remember it being not quite right.

I put glean, derisive, and unprecedented circumstances as well!

My score is looking better already =]

For the calligraphy punishment what did you guys put? I put usual punishment, but I was unsure of this.

what were the options for that ?

The answer was either usual punishment or teach a difficult art form

hmm i barely remember it but for some reason i put the latter option..

From the other thread i wrote:

For the calligraphy punishment, i felt that was the toughest question. I ended up going with "making her learn a skill not easily transmitted", because that was the mother's primary focus, NOT punishing her. But it could have gone either way.

yeah i guess i agree with her, because seh wasnt outright punishing her, just making her learn it for taklign back to her or something.......

didn't the passage or the question itself indicate that it was a "punishment"? ... i forgot what i put, it wasn't choice E though.
