PSAT Curve Predictions!

What do you guys think?

Wednesday

Math - 80 77 74 72 hopefully
Writing - 80 80 78 76
CR - 80 80 77 75 74 72 hopefully

haha here are mine for saturday:

Math: 80 77 74 71
Writing: 80 80 80 78 (like last year's saturday)
CR: 80 79 77 75

i like those ones fool, i would just hope for maybe math to go 80 78 and cr to go 80 80

Haha, you guys are too optimistic. Last year our PSAT curve was -2 72 Math, -5 69 CR, -6 71 writing (that curve was actually awesome)

Could you explain what you mean by these curve predictions/hopes? Curve for what?

My S is awaiting PSAT results and I wasn't into CC when my last child took them so I don't understand the significance.

Is the grading on the PSATs going to change the way the SATs have, guessing from your numbers it would look like it isn't supposed to.

D3!ty, -2 Math was 73. Anyways, my predicted curves for writing and CR are similar to those from last year's; my predicted curve for math is just 1 point more lenient for -1 and -2, which is what I am going to expect because I felt there were two questions that had the potential to trick the average high school junior.
Btw, mhc48, these curve predictions are related to the raw scores, for example:
My predicted grammar curve is 80 80 80 78
This means that if one gets 2 wrong, and 1 omit on the section, then his score will be 78, since His raw score will be 35.5, which is rounded up to 36. 39 is 80, 38 is 80, and 37 is 80. The 36 would get a score of 78.

what will 33 raw in math be?

Thanks fool. How is the raw score determined? Are there a certain number of questions in each section and specific points taken off for omits and wrong answers?

So it would be X questions, 1 pt for a right ans; 1 pt off for a wrong ans and .5 off for an omit. No, that doesn't work. I've been out of school too many years, it sounds like an SAT question just figuring out the score

For every question answered correctly, you receive a point. For every question answered incorrectly, you don't receive a point and get an additional 1/4 of a point taken off your score. For every question omitted, you neither lose nor gain points.

"Thanks fool"

kinda cracked me up....

Anyway:
Wed.

M: 80 77 74 72 70-----> I think so....
CR: 80 79 77 75 73----> I actually think that CR might be a bit more lenient
W: 80 80 79 77 75 74 ----> i really wish -4 could be a 75 like last year's test, but I'm not counting on it.

I love the math curve, but it seems more like a dream than anything else :-/....any predictions for 33 raw? because I know I have 3 wrong 1 omit

and this is the CB web page where the PDF file with curves included will be posted:

guys we might be able to crack this curve mystery ... in the link listed above .. their is a preview " score report" from the 05' PSAT.... it might of just been made up to help the parents, but i actually might be based off on the curve...

What the "person" got:
1) Critical Reading - 29/48 correct... score: 50
2) Math - 21/38 correct (6 omit/11 wrong) score: 52
3) Writing - 16/39 correct .... score: 44

interesting but I really dont know if its based on the actual curve... might be though.. whatcha think?

I don't understand why he got 5 points off for getting 18 questions wrong on the CR.

Edit: Anyways, I don't think we can predict the curve using that because the answers on that sheet don't match up with any of the three administered tests.

well anyway you look at it, he's a dumbass

haha.. nice one trader... that writing score sickens me... if i ever recieved that score report i would literally drop dead..

there is a state summary report that shows how many people got what scores in your state

thts for 2004 i believe

Do you guys think CR Saturday will be more lenient? I thought this year's vocab was harder and last year's CR curve was a bit harsh.

i know when i took the PSAT in 10th grade (2003), -1 math was 76, that was terrible
