does anyone know if all of the schools have the scores and some are just not giving them out? Or do some schools not even have the scores yet?

Do you think the cutoffs for semifinalist will be higher or lower this year?

^^they don’t tend to change much i don’t think

How do they decide when to send them off for homeschoolers?

You’ll find lots of the answers to your questions in this forum:

Winston, if memory serves me, I recall seeing in past threads on CC that some homeschoolers were directly mailed their results from CB. I believe it all depended on how they were coded when registered - if they were included with their local school district or not.

Were the homeschoolers sent the results at the same time that the college board sent to the schools? Thanks for all your help, everyone.

I am wondering that as well. S took the PSAT at our local high school, but he entered the homeschooling code for our state when filling out the PSAT test form info. He received an e-mail from the CB today stating that he can get info about his PSAT results on-line. He went online, but he needs the access code.

Does anyone know if the access code is the same for all homeschoolers, or will his access code be the same as the school’s where he took the PSAT?

If the access code is the same for all homeschoolers, have any other homeschoolers out there received their test scores, and if so, what is the access code?

The access code is specific to the student.

you realize that that website is for last year’s results - the class graduating 2011 took the psat in the fall of 2009. this years cutoffs won’t be available for some time yet, the cut-off change year-to-year a bit.

But other years have compiled a list here on CC prior to the official list coming out.

On Friday 12/3 I phoned College Board and was informed that all high schools should receive the PSAT scores by 12/10 at the very latest, most by 12/8. Perhaps your school counselor is misinformed and/or unmotivated like so many high school counselors. It’s highly probable that high schools are reluctant to release the scores in order to postpone until a strategic distribution date, like just prior to the Christmas Break, when counselors can’t be bothered with parents’ questions!

We don’t get our scores passed back until January… GG

I think it’s because my school is HUGE and they want to sort through all the scores before they give it back to us… I’m pretty sure at least 1500 students took the PSAT at my school so yeah but it sucks because I really want to know if I qualified for NM. And I’m already dying for my Dec SAT score… oh the pain of waiting

AforAmbition: Me tooooo ugh PSAT and SAT D: I think my PSAT scores will come by the end of next week but December 21st is like the judgement day O_O

AforAmbition -
Did you pay for the PSAT? Our high school juniors had to pay so would be most unhappy if required to wait until January to receive the PSAT score report.

i will be getting them back this Thursday according to my guidance counselor

Thanks for the info. I am not sure of the point of having the scores online the beginning of Dec., but not being able to access them (without the access code) until the middle of January. I must be missing something; it seems stupid to me. :-)

My school’s handing scores out later this week, but my guidance counselor let me have a peek- 218 total with 80 CR, 69 M, 69 WR

~30 short of qualify for national merit… another reason to hate NJ :(

740 CR, 760 M (stupid mistake cost me 40 pts…), 780 W = 228 = :)

***… on my first psat i got 550… (WITH STUDYING) now on my second one i got 730 with studying… very very surprised… I guess the jump up is possible… im pretty sure igot lucky tho… considering the fact that i know 99% of the vocab and i got one wrong and one omit for the vocab questions…
