PSAT, SAT, and Improvement

Hey! I am currently a junior in high school and I am planning on applying to very selective colleges. I have a few questions:

1) If I took the SAT this fall (October 6), is it likely that I did better on the PSAT (October 17) because it is an "easier" test? I am hoping to be a NMS, but I'm not so sure based on the SAT scores I got since the PSAT scores are supposed to be good predictors of SAT scores.

2) I did not study at all for the SAT (October 6) and I got a 690 CR, 670 M, and 660 W (my essay brought my score down, but the multiple choice was easy) How hard will it be to improve this score? How much does studying usually improve a score? I'm aiming to get at least a 720 in each section. Above 750 in each would be ideal...

3) If I take the SATs again in the spring, will they improve just because I am older (more months in school learning vocabulary, reading, doing math, etc.)? I've heard of this happening.

Any advice would be great!
