Psat scores out!! - now

ACT is much more fact based…less “raw intelligence”. I do about equally well on both but am studying SAT because it gets paid for through the school system. Also, ACT is more speed based rather than logic based. You might be a more ACT-inclined person. Anyways, I would totally forget about standardized tests from now on if I were you. The time required to raise your SAT to your ACT level is not worth it.

I got a question on this:
The question was “Although the medieval abbess Hildegard of Bingen wrote theological, botanical, and medical texts, it is her musical compositions that have received the most recognition.”
Choices: A - it is her
B - there was here
C - they are here
D - but it is her
E - her

Correct - A (it is her)
I got this one incorrect.

PS. If anyone has questions on a specific question and its answer, please ask away. I have my test booklet and answer key (form W).

DisappointedSAT: Did you take the October 16th PSAT administration? I was wondering if there was a discrepancy between the 16th admin. and the 19th admin. as to when the scores come back to the school. Thanks.
BTW: A is correct because it logically connects the sentence in stead of fragmenting it as in E. Although does not require a “but” as shown in D. In B, there is describing a place, not her compositions. “Is” CAN be in present tense because the comma separates the two ideas. There can be more than one tense in any given sentence. I’m not sure if that was your mistake. Which letter did you actually pick?

I took the Wed, Oct. 16 administration. There is probably a difference in time though there should not be much. Thanks for explaining it, though I meant that someone sent me a private message asking about that one. I can’t reply because I do not have enough posts, however. Thanks anyway. I am convinced I was dozing off on this one. I put E, her. Looking at it now that was a STUPID mistake. “her musical compositions that have received the most recognition” That sounds TERRIBLE. It does not even make sense. How could I have missed such an obvious mistake? My mind was playing tricks on me. I never saw the word “that”.

My son said there was one on critical reading the answers had choices between like simile, analogy, and something else… also there was one that had passive …balk as a possible answer. Could you provide answers? I am so sorry we don’t have the exact questions or numbers. Your offer is greatly appreciated.

Yes, there was a difference in the curve for the Wed. admin as opposed to to Sat. -1 CR on Wed. was a 79, on Sat. an 80. -2 CRwas on Wed. was a 75, on Sat. a 76. It seems to level off at -9 (for CR). The curve for Writing and Math were harsher for Saturday, though, so I guess it all balances out.

Full report on pages 5 and 6 of this document http://professionals.collegeboard.com/profdownload/understanding-psat-nmsqt-scores.pdf

CR - 71
M - 71
W - 60!!!

WHAT. WHAAAT. I am shocked. I know I probably sound pretentious, but grammar is like my best subject. I didn’t get less than 70 for writing on several practice tests I’d taken. I thought for sure I’d bomb CR but nope! This puts a dent in my self-esteem…yeah yeah I should probably shut up. 8B

On a practice ACT I got a 35 in writing though…too bad PACTs aren’t used for NMSQT…

How did you get your booklet and answers?

dissappointedSAT
How do you get your test booklet and answers?
Thanks!

Big props to someone who posts every single question on form W on the PSAT on here, or takes a picture of it

@disappointedSAT can you take a picture of the booklet and correct answers? That would be amazing!!

@DisappointedSAT There was a writing question about townspeople meeting with the mayor and businesses “long since defunct.” I know it was towards the end of the section although I can’t remember what number it was. Could you tell me what the answer was?

PSAT Results: 223
CR - 67
W - 78
M - 78

I was already expecting to miss a few on CR, but I totally bombed the vocab section (12/15). Fortunately, where I live, this should easily qualify for NMS Semifinalist.

@RoseOak3918 that one was E- no error

DisappointedSAT, take a picture of the booklet please!

OMG I am so waiting for my PSAT scores! Like from the beginning of December, I saw the message on CB to type in the access code and I’m like freakin out since then!

My school has no problem in giving out our scores… It is just our school district. I don’t want to say any names of ISDs, but I feel mine is really ■■■■■■■■. My school gives the booklets out in a few days after it gets it, but when I ask my counselor, she says the scores have NOT arrived yet! OMG I can’t wait longer.

Oh and if someone got their tests back, it would be awesome if he/she could like help me determine my scores using the answer key that is posted by collegeboard online…

How do you check your scores? My collegeboard account only shows 2012’s test (one I took sophomore year)

I’m shocked!!!
C 75 (I thought I’d be in the 60s!)
M 75 (ngl, a little disappointed that it wasn’t an 80, but I’m happy either way)
W 77

If anyone needs Form S answers, I have the booklet.
