jjnpsu, congrats! Did he apply to Michigan with those stats? Impressive!

@ronboy72 - No he did not apply to Michigan.

did anyone get accepted to comp sci major yet? I assume that is why my app hasn’t been reviewed yet I applied on nov 10th through coalition and it has yet to go under review. but i had friends who applied late nov and already got a decision back.

I applied 11/16. All my checklist items have a check marking it complete however the item status only says received and not completed like the other items checked off. This is marked for my SRAR. I applied through Coalition which let me submit the SRAR with the application but because it only says received, I’m worried I did something wrong and they never got it despite the box being marked complete. Is this happening to anyone else too?

Also if I applied 11/16 for nursing, what time should I expect to hear back? I’m hoping it’s sooner than January 31

@gekro427 just fyi… My son applied on 9/27 and last Saturday the SRAR changed from ‘Received’ to ‘Complete’. I believe in some of the prior threads a few people received their decision within a few weeks of that status change.

Has anyone who applied through Coalition hear back yet?

@20182022 Yes - My D says to go on FB - search Penn State Class of 2022 - there will be a link to a groupme. Congtratulations!

@my2nurses Thank you so much! And congrats to your daughter.

Any international student receive the offer from University Park?

Does anyone know if Penn State will weight your unweighted GPA and if so what formula is used ?

@hp3712 My D applied early October through the Coalition app and was just accepted today. Her SRAR changed from Received to Complete 3 days ago.

@3CollegeMom Could I ask what were her stats and what college she applied to?

@hp3712 I can tell you we did apply through Coalition on 9/27 but did NOT receive a decision yet.

@gekro427 the major you apply to has nothing to do with the timeframe that you hear back. You will hear by January 31 the same as anyone who applied by Nov 30. If you applied on 11/16, then that’s not really that long of a wait considering there will be many (most) students who applied in September who will also hear in late January. Good luck!

Not sure what makes you say that major has nothing to do with it. My thought is if they have fewer applicants for a major, you hear back sooner. One twin applied later, has similar SAT slightly lower GPA same activities as twin and heard back two weeks ago for Data Science in IST. While his twin is still waiting on Engineering undecided. Both have older brother at PSU. It definitely depends on pool major gets.

Nobody outside of the admissions office has any idea when anyone will hear back. It may depend on major, it may depend on stats, it may depend on something we haven’t even considered. They’re the experts on a not-very-transparent process – we can’t say with any degree of certainty.

@justakh No, it doesn’t. A person from a smaller major can apply in September and still not hear until January and it means nothing as to whether or not they will get in. Decisions are not done by college, but by admission reps who will tell you outright that the decisions are completed at random. They are not done in order that the application arrives. When an application arrives, they are categorized into many different pools. Not all of the people applying for the same major will even be in the same pool. That’s why it doesn’t matter what major one chooses as far as decision timetable.

My source is from being a parent ambassador volunteer to the admissions department and from speaking extensively to admission reps and other admission volunteers. Now, that’s not to say that I know everything or even most everything. I don’t. And bodangles is right that the process is not very transparent. But even a cursory stroll through the previous admission threads from other years will show you that there is no correlation between people who applied roughly the same time for the same major and the date they were accepted.
