PSU (University Park) Class of 2019 Decision Thread

Last year our message changed on this day in the evening to “in the coming days” I think between 5-6:30pm. My son knew of his accceptance on Friday sometime in the morning or afternoon. He texted me from school.

Accepted to College of Engineering on 10th January, 2015
SAT 1850 (1930 Superscore)
GPA 3.83
IB 40/45
Decent extra curricular activities

I am an international student so I was just wondering whether Penn State offers Merit Based scholarships to international students and if it does, when does the student get to know about it (during the time of the admission decision)?

@PerplexD, I agree, and everyone who received their decision on this day were accepted. If history repeat itself many students will have their decision by 7pm tonight.

Anyone know anything about the School of Nursing? I applied October 6th, my status has not changed, and I haven’t seen any acceptances (or denials, for that matter) from the nursing program yet. Any idea about when I will hear?

@reddevil10‌

Penn State does not offer much in the way of merit-based scholarships to anyone–Pennsylvania residents, OOS students, or internationals. The few merit awards they offer generally go to top students (Schreyer admits) and Millennium Scholars (a competitive program for students planning to seek a PhD or MD/PhD in a STEM field; however it is only open to US citizens and permanent residents).

Here’s a list of all PSU’s scholarships, most of which are pretty small and seem to factor need into the decision:

This is the type of question it would behoove applicants to get answered BEFORE spending the money on an application.

Did the majority of people last year hear today or was it a few?

@Tooth1010, last year’s thread is pinned at the top of the Penn State forum. You can read for yourself.

I’ve been checking Twitter in hopes to receive a more accurate perspective of admissions. So many have yet to hear back…if they would have heard, there would be an abundance of tweets! In addition, a lot of the people who are being accepted are attending branch campuses - not deferred though…it seems like they applied for branch.

@RobBox96…What Twitter account do you check? The one I have the admissions dept, not prospective students. I’d love to see that. Thanks!

@pinkmd I use hashtags and common words such as “acceptance to penn state” OR “penn state main”

I regularly search PSU admissions, or Accepted to Penn State on twitter. I agree…it’s been quiet there too! Most of the tweets have been from frustrated applicants who are waiting

Just got an email inviting me to apply for the Millennium Scholars program (must be College of Engineering or College of Science) so maybe that means I’m close to hearing I’ve been accepted…

LOL I just looked at application in detail and it’s due tomorrow by midnight and I’d need one more letter of recommendation by next week. Not sure it’s even possible to meet the deadline… Crazy!

@univin2015‌ nah, everyone gets that letter. i havent get accepted yet, and i got that email too

@C1TonDoe ok thanks! What a crazy system Penn State has…

I applied to the college of nursing as well and submitted my application mid-September. I had all my transcripts, scores and recommendations in by October, and my status literally just changed to coming days today (fingers crossed!) However I also don’t know of anyone else who has heard from them.

I’ve seen a number of Arts and Architecture acceptances posted on twitter in the last few hours. @allyalyoxenfree‌ what time did your status change? And congrats!

Anyone from DUS get a status change yet?

@ChrisF‌ not here yet. DUS, same status since 9/8

@ChrisF no DUS answer here yet either
