Help! the answers to all are B for some reason I don’t get :(

Keep in mind that this person has a PHOBIA of elevators. What is a phobia? A fixed anxiety disorder, thus, it’s B.

The method of systematic desensitization is to guide the patient through a series of steps slowly, you obviously see this method is slow, and step-by-step. So, that’s also B.

We want to achieve a desired behavior here, through exposing the patient to an adversive stimulus, slowly. Behavior is key. B.

wait, how do you know this person has a PHOBIA?

The steps described in the question clearly relate to a fear of heights (the person is ascending a building)… or maybe a fear of elevators… LOL.

Can someone further explain why 15 would be B and not Cognitive?

Nothing on the information mentions that they are trying to “change his maladaptive thoughts” or “adjust his false beliefs.” Either way, if you are dealing with Cognitive therapy, you would be seeing RET (Rational-Emotional Therapy), not systematic desensitization, which is strictly behavioral.

Thank you both!

@ Interficio or you could just memorize that systematic desensitization was by Wolpe who was a behavioral psychologist
