Psychosis.

<p>Hello.
I have had psychosis since I was 12. It has eaten away at my life, my grades, and my future. At 17 years old, more than halfway through my Junior year, my mother finally agreed to take me to a psychiatrist, obviously expecting him to agree with her that I was just lazy and stupid. Much to her disappointment (never have I used more viable an understatement), I was pronounced quite severely psychotic and given medication that will be increased from 2 mg to 5 to 10 (current) to 20 and then finally 30 (though it can be higher).
Because of this disease, my GPA is laughable (roughly 3.3) with no honors. My parents refuse to admit that I need help, and want me to stop taking the medicine. I will get absolutely no support from them.
How do I explain this? How do I work this to my advantage? And for anyone here who knows anything about this monster, what do I DO?
Thank you. I apologize if I misused a few words.</p>

<p>it is admirable of you to keep at your education. where do you live in a city, suburbia?</p>

<p>Does your doctor speak to your parents about how you are? Does the medicine help?</p>

<p>You can go to your pediatrician and speak with him or her and they have a duty to help you.</p>

<p>I personally believe in Jesus as the one true son of God. He can heal you but first you need to accept Him as your Saviour. You can go to bible.com and read through many questions with Biblical answers. Being saved is a real thing. Jesus is real.</p>

<p>Besides Jesus, there are other ways that you can help yourself. First of all, a 3.3 GPA is respectable and will get you in to most colleges. There is an organization called NAMI that can help you and your family to understand what you are dealing with. They have offices and support groups in all 50 states.</p>

<p>[NAMI:</a> National Alliance on Mental Illness | About NAMI](<a href=“http://www.nami.org/template.cfm?section=About_NAMI]NAMI:”>http://www.nami.org/template.cfm?section=About_NAMI)</p>

<p>A 3.3 is not a bad GPA. You don’t need fancy ivy league schools to get a good education. Odds are they would not be too tolerable of your psychosis anyway so bag them.</p>

<p>You need a school that is more interested in educating the whole person rather than a Businessperson Factory. And I wouldn’t go too large, either. Maybe a LAC?</p>

<p>And ignore the rents. You will be gone in a year, anyway. Pick your battles. If there is a problem with the meds, talk to the Dr and get samples. Do you turn 18 anytime soon?</p>
