I should probably establish a context for this discussion: I am a high school junior. My r

I’m right there with you.

lol I read:
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man - James Joyce
The Sound and the Fury - William Faulkner
William Carlos Williams Poetry
Art history is pretty cool too

that’s what did it for me. Just find something semi-intelligent you really like and dive into it.

found my passion for learning when I was four. I was doing math and addition seem like a fun game to me. From there, expanded from math to other subjects in elementary school/middle school.

It’s not too late to find your passion yet. You have high school and then college.

You might just need to try new things. What have you always gravitated toward? Also, you might not be challenging yourself. Take on new goals. If your science class is too easy, try some research or a science project. If English is too easy, try to win a writing contest or get published. If you truly don’t care for academics, take on a social goal like finding a girlfriend or getting laid, or an athletic goal like running a five minute mile.

I think that most people who heavily invest their time in something (in our case, academics) will eventually come to a point where they become bored with what they’re doing. You just need some change in your life.

Like Mapleleafs and ChoklitRain already said, you should try to find something else to do. For example, right now I’m crashing hard with senioritis. I still do my work and study, but it’s very superficial. If I have to be at home, I’d rather play poker, mess with linux, or go out for a run. Or something else that holds my attention. Like CC, lol.

I don’t think you’ll find your passion through the standard educational system. Read books and articles, find forums that discuss your interests, and branch out until you find that one thing that you really like. Then, for the time being, use it as an escape from the banalities of academia.

Maybe you have a passion but don’t realize it.

I just figured out in my junior year in high school that I really have a passion for film. I just didn’t think about film as a passion until I scraped my brain for hobbies I have. I know so much about the film business, technical aspects, and directors/producers/people. And it never seemed like I was actively learning it. I just have learned it over the years because I’ve been interested in it.
