Yes, I am open to the SF schools too. I loved it when we visited Santa Clara U.

i meant housing value
i was confuzzle

Ahhh…that makes more sense now. Yup willing to buy a house around 500-750k range. Do any of you know where the metro line is going up to? From exposition to which of these (if any) areas?

la canada
people from its feeder middle school either go there or harvard-westlake, a good private school
haha and i could ramble forever about good public schools in the bay area, but greatschools can do that for me with stats and parent/student reviews :)

Warts, thanks for your PM about the SF schools, would love to hear more comments.

Lynbrook looks great!!

@TCBH: Exeter (If you’re talking Phillips Exeter) is not a day school and is nowhere near California.

But it is about as easy to get into as Harvard Westlake.

I don’t live IN Los Angeles, but I live within the county.

I don’t go to Arcadia High School (transferred out due to my family’s relocating) but I would highly recommend that school. They have plenty of academic-related acheivements to be proud of (976 API, 4th place national Science Bowl team, 8th place national Ocean Science Bowl team, 1st place Constitution Team, high AP participation and passing rate). Yes, Arcadia is an expensive area but there are some less expensive areas as well that border El Monte or Temple City.

La Canada is a very good high school as well, but they are an extremely expensive mountainous area.

Cerritos has this superb school named Whitney high school that’s been nationally recognized almost every year, but admission is based on a written essay and your student’s performance on state tests. Cerritos High School is high quality as well, but Gahr High School isn’t as good in my opinion.

The best high school in Pasadena is Pasadena Poly, right across the street from Caltech. It is a very expensive private school and admission is tough. Marshall Fundamental is ranked well by Newsweek, but GreatSchools seems to disagree.

I live in Santa Clarita. Relative to the high schools in Los Angeles, most of the schools here are good… But a public school is a public school.

Just ask if you have any questions.

@TCBH, Harvard-Westlake is THAT competitive?

Of course, I’m a Jersey boy but I thought HWS was just an expensive school with a mediocre education. Apparently, you and Wikipedia proved me wrong. :O

The filthy rich aspect makes it harder to get in. It’s an expensive school with the best education in CA.

Culver City High School, look it up
