My daughter applied for the Business Leadership Program (BLP), they take ~ 25 students per year. Indeed her letter stated that both Honors and BLP decisions will go out mid March.
FWIW - back in December when we were waiting on her EA decision from Seattle U, it took over two week for her packet to get from Seattle to So Cal.
As I understand it, some students receiving merit awards were notified last week (so about a month earlier than the normal RD notification time frame). Expect to hear in mid March.
I’ll chime in. S16 got 20k from UPS, 23K from Willamette, 20k from Lewis and Clark… waiting on Whitman. His stats: 3.9UW/4.12W, 2240 SAT (1530 CR+M). Headed out to visit all four tomorrow!
^ have a great trip. D16 has seen Lewis & Clark and Willamette. Lewis & Clark is beautiful. Willamette is very nice as well but not as stunning. Has it’s own merits though. We are trying to arrange a trip to Puget Sound this next month.
@latetogame, all good schools! Whitman has a beautiful campus and I thought Walla Walla was about as cute a college town as you could reasonably hope to find. It’s also just a terrific school, though even with your S’s excellent stats, you probably won’t be seeing merit money of the same magnitude from them. Have a great trip!
@cellomom7, my son auditioned for a music scholarship (he submitted a video, since we’re too far away to attend a live event), but he hasn’t heard anything yet. Then again, we don’t even know if he’s admitted yet!
@rayrick That’s my daughter’s situation as well. I think mid-March is when they will here, but was curious if others were starting to get notices regarding music.
@rayrick@lr4550 We have seen three of the four. Off to Lewis and Clark tomorrow.
Whitman was beautiful and he really liked how genuinely nice all the students were. He sat in on a great class, saw lots of activities he’d be happy to join, and felt they would really support him. He did a dorm overnight, had a good time, and walked away thinking he would be happy there. That said, it was small and, while very cute, Walla Walla is small.
Puget Sound was awesome… gorgeous campus, friendly and enthusiastic students. He did another dorm overnight which went really well. I was impressed with the how much was happening on campus and again he saw a dozen things he thought he’d like to join. Students were really engaged and present. He said that EVERYONE lit up talking about classes and studies. They liked being there and it showed. Tacoma was great… good size with plenty to do. He did say there was a “bro” vibe and more of a party atmosphere than the other two, not a negative in his book. Just different.
Willamette was today and it started a little bumpy as we arrived late. Admissions really went out of their way to set him up with students who shared his interests. The campus is lovely, but a little more worn than the previous two. He liked the proximity to the capitol. He also thought the students were less interested in partying than those at UPS, still fun, down to earth, engaged… just a little more serious.
They all shared small classes (Whitman and UPS being smaller on average than Willamette), tons of attention from advisors, and just a “good” feeling. It’ll be a REALLY hard choice!
