Hello,
I am a transfer student that got accepted to Purdue Computer Science major and Drexel Biomedical Engineering Major. I do not know which college to choose for. They both have great curriculum and programs, but I do not know which one to pick. I would like some recommendations please!
Well, do you prefer CS or BME? I think that’s the more important question to start with.
I see. I like both majors that’s why I wanted to compare what future jobs will be like for both majors.
You’ll be fine in terms of job prospects with either - CS looks a bit better in abundance and pay currently but that could change over time so I wouldn’t decide based on that alone by any means.
CS grads usually go into software engineering, which will be developing software for various industries. It’s a lot of problem-solving and mathematical thinking, though often not too heavy on math itself, depending on the subfield you’re in.
I’m not an expert on biomedical engineering, but here is a copied description of common jobs via a quick search:
Go with CS if everything else is equal. BME most likely need a Master Degree to find a good job and if you do good in CS, you can take the master later on in your life when you have time.
Thank you! This really helped me! I’ll think about this as I make my decisions!
