Hi everyone,
i wanted to know if anyone knew anything about the veterinary technology B.S. major at Purdure? I was looking at it online and it seems like it will give me a lot of veterinary experience hours.

Before i came across this, i had wanted to do a double major in Biology and Animal Science, but with this new discovery, i was wondering if i should do a vet tech and biology double major, animals science and vet tech double major or even do a triple major. is that all just too crazy? answering this will really help me out. right now i am a sophmore and its almost time for college!

Hi,
I was accepted to Purdue’s vet tech BS major so I may be able to help. I choose to go to Michigan State’s vet tech program instead, but I know about the application process and some info about the program.

First, do you want to be a vet tech, or do you want to be a vet? If you want to be a vet, I would NOT do the vet tech major- vet tech classes are very specific to animal nursing; it would be like taking nursing classes to get into med school- it’s a completely different philosophy. At the presentation after the vet tech interviews, Purdue made it very clear that if you want to go to vet school, don’t do vet tech. Also, it would be really hard to double major if you do the vet tech major- the vet tech curriculum is very structured and specific; I don’t think you’d have time for that many classes outside of those required for vet tech.

Hope that helps, and let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck!

thank you spartanoboe. that really cleared things up for me. i do want to be a vet so i will stick with animal science and biology
