Purdue vs SJSU vs Cal Poly Pomona

My S has been accepted by Purdue, San Jose State, and Cal Poly Pomona for Computer Science Major. We live in Silicon Valley and SJSU is about 20 minutes from home. Cal Poly Pomona offers a good solid computer science program, without too much traveling. Purdue is a big name school with excellent computer science program; however, it requires extensive traveling and out of state tuition.

Which university would you recommend among the three for computer science study?

Thank you.

If your S is getting the same education would he not want to stay near by? Why spend extra? Does he have a preference? I think big name schools are over rated.

Purdue has a five year program where he will be able to earn both BS and Master degree if he stays qualified and committed for the term. It is an excellent program. However, it’s out of state tuition plus expenses will be around 45k per year. SJSU is here at home and right in the heart of Silicon Valley where all the high tech companies are. I’ve heard that many companies recruit SJSU graduates locally. S has no preferences and couldn’t decide either.

If I were the student I would pick SJSU for financial reasons. But your S should visit during he day to get a feel for it.
