putting down entrepreneurship as your intended career path in admission essay?

does that resonate well with the adcoms?

It is certainly a path that I am interested in if given the opportunity but it's hard to predict. I am also thinking of putting my short term career path as product management (my pre-mba alignment) and starting my own company as the long term goal. What are you thoughts on this?

I am also interested in management consulting and high-finance but that would make me a career changer and it seems too competitive. I think I will get dinged if I go with this approach.

Gg with your first option listed, not second. It’s a compelling story that fits with the reality of your past.

My problem with people saying the want to be an “entrepreneur” is that those who want to be an “entrepreneur” actually do this, they don’t talk about it. Going to school and planning on how to be spontaeous, start business, and master effectual reasoning is completely contrary to actually doing any of those things.

I don’t think that wanting to start your own business is a bad reason to want to get an MBA, I just don’t see it as entrepreneurial. I think you need to look more into what you want to be able to give to society, and the world, and less on exactly how you are going to give this. Maybe starting a business will be the way, and the MBA will give you the knowledge to do so. Maybe it’s to grow an existing company, and the leadership skills taught through the MBA will help you do this… Maybe it’s both.
