My D has been accepted to both. Any comment would be highly appreciated.

Can't comment on W&M, but I can tell you that NYU has always had an outstanding reputation in art history, along with Columbia. Also, the NYC schools usually have internships set up with the museums in NY for undergraduates. You might wish to investigate the kinds of opportunities each college offers for art history majors.

My D got accepted to the Steinhardt school, with intention to major in Studio Art. I missed to mention that in my previous message.

I can't speak for NYU, but for W&M, you are accepted to W&M as a general W&M student, not as an art history guy, or as a business school guy, etc. If your D goes to W&M and decides later on that she wants to be something else (like a history major, hypothetically), then it's relatively easy to do because of our liberal arts requirements for all of the students here.

I don't know what would happen if your D did the same at NYU. That also should be put into consideration. She should go to a good college, but at the same time one that offers many opportunities in many fields too.
