Do you guys think that the people at Admissions will be looking more for essays that really show who you are and your experiences or are they looking for literary masterpieces?

Show who you are along with good writing

Definitely the former. It is said over and over again. You want it competently written, even well written, but it needn’t be so elevated as to be literary or a masterpiece.

It still needs to be evocative, though…IMO it takes a certain amount of creativity and technical skill to get your personality across on paper.
