Quarter System Decreases Chances of Internships?

I've seen a few posts while browsing the forum where people have said that since NU runs on a quarter system, they get off much later in the summer. They said that this makes them miss internships because most internships are already given out to those who have summer break earlier.
So my question is, do any of you who go to NU find getting internships hard? How helpful is NU in helping you get an internship? What would you recommend someone do to get an internship?
Thanks!

Yes, for instance this year, finals end on June 10th. But, you don’t have to be back in class until the 3rd week in September, 3-4 weeks later than most other people. People who are lining up summer internships aren’t doing that at the last moment, so it would stand to reason that you could work this out with an employer. You wouldn’t be available less time than most other college students, just at a different time.

I mean, employers who consistently hire NU students for internships are aware of that. Also plenty of the top schools are also on the quarter system such as Stanford and Dartmouth, so people definitely have internships. Perhaps the people that don’t get them are just making up excuses…
