Queen's Court Social Life

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone could tell me about what life in Queen's Court is really like. I'm drawn to Queen's because I don't drink, do any kind of drugs at all. In fact I have a medical condition and I take medication that reacts badly with alcohol so I'd actually get really really sick if I drank. I'm tired of everyone giving me a hard time about why I don't drink and I feel like living in an environment where everyone has pledged not to drink would be good for me. That being said, I still like to go out and go go parties and have fun, but I've heard that the people who live in Queen's are let's just say an interesting bunch. I'm Catholic and religious and I go to mass but I don't live my life by the Bible or anything. I guess what I'm asking is are the kids in Queen's as awkward, conservative (and I don't mean politically conservative) and well boring as I hear? Thanks!

There are a bunch of threads on this board about Queens Court and life at Fordham.

Queens is officially dry, but a lot of students violate that rule. Overall, you pick your friends and hang with people with values like you. There are plenty of good mass going Catholics at Fordham. A diverse community that allows tolerance of religious views. Mass is well attended by students, but not all Catholics attend mass.

Avoid the party animals and you will be fine.

I lived in QC my freshman year, had a great experience, and met a lot of people who are still among my closest friends at Fordham. It is a great, close knit dorm that offers a lot of activities. I didn’t drink at all going into college and it was a perfect place to live (although as mentioned above, a number of students in the dorm do drink/party to an extent).

One more salient point: I dont think people call Queens Court residents “awkward or conservative or boring.” Fordham ResLife makes a concerted effort to find diversity and also to match people with similar interests. That includes Queens Court. There will be people from all over the place, with differing views, and differing lifestyles. Queens residents tend to be very competitive academically and a lot of the Honors students live there. They arent all bookworms and nerds however. The key to success in college is discipline. Doing the work, eating right, sleeping right, balance in your lifestyle, and finding friends/studybuddies who are like you.

My kid was in Queens freshman year. It was a lot of fun. Crying moving in…saying goodbye to parents and crying moving out saying goodbye to friends. Lots of dorm drama, which is in every dorm of every college in America. Part of growing up. But Queens is special in many ways.
