Hi there! I’m a current CEGEP student and am planning on going into an undergraduate BA in Psychology when I’m done CEGEP. I will be applying to unis in a few months and am looking for some input. I am deciding between Queens, McGill, and Concordia. I do speak some french, but not well enough to get a job in Montreal which is a concern for me. I also need to take into consideration student life, clubs, ability to achieve good GPA, and preparation for grad school. Just looking for some opinions thanks!
If you are currently a CEGEP student I’m going to assume that means you are a Quebec resident. Your in province tuition rates will be much cheaper than going out of province and Queen’s in particular is more expensive than most. I would focus on McGill, Concordia, and Bishops (or any other Quebec universities that are English language) and save on your tuition (especially if you’re thinking grad school in the future). As for employment, just because you get your degree in Quebec doesn’t mean you have to continue to live there after graduation.
Thanks for the help! I agree, I would save a lot on tuition if I stayed in Quebec that’s for sure! As for jobs- I meant like part time jobs while I’m studying there to help pay for school.
Fast food jobs don’t require much spoken language…
Apply to McGill if you qualify, Concordia and Bishop’s may offer you scholarships if that’s the case.
If you speak a little French, University of Ottawa would give you a half tuition scholarship for the bilingual program (some classes in French, some classes in English).
