Query about college essays

<p>I am very clueless.I have always thought you only need your CV and personal interview to be accepted to a college.Now I find about those essays and I am completely baffled.
Do you have to include an essay within your CV or should it be separate?
Do you submit the essay first or your academic achievement?</p>

<p>Actually essays are not a common convention for college admission where I live(I am an international student),but do all US colleges require essays(or just Ivys)?</p>

<p>Selective schools do (or at least highly recommend), except for some moderately selective publics.</p>

<p>Take a look at the application for the colleges you’re applying to and just fill out the form how they want it. Different applications could have different requirements for your essay. Furthermore, CVs are generally not required in college admissions.</p>
