How effective is Questbridge for getting into an Ivy League? I have a lower GPA (~3.7 UW) due to circumstances but good everything else. Could I have a chance at an Ivy?
The process should have helped you to get organized earlier than most and helped you presenting your case as powerfully as feasible. The success of QB has not only been measured in its College Match results but in its much larger “non-matched” admission numbers. Your chances have improved in a very difficult arena. Just remember that there is a very vast world beyond the eight schools that form the Ivy League. Let the chips fall where they may and congratulate yourself for having done just about the best you could have.
Well assuming you indicate all ivys as your top 4, you have to understand that their are many people with similar circumstances as you who are applying and have almost perfect SATS and GPAS (especially if you’re asian or white). For example a girl at my school had a 4.4 GPA and a 35 on her SAT with quite a story, but was not matched to any of her top 4 schools which all happened to be Ivy Leagues. That being said, I’m not saying you have no chance and I’m definitely not trying to discredit your accomplishments (which I’m sure are super impressive) but I do think that you should look into other schools at Questbridge besides just the Ivy’s. Good Luck!
First, some of the QB colleges (Yale for instance) will not match you unless you are EFC 0. However, you might get in during the RD round.
I personally think that too many QB students think that they can get into an Ivy simply because they are partners of the program, when those schools are reaches. I also think you should have as good or nearly as good without QB because you still have the same profile, except you have a Finalist award (yay). QB exists to make the students aware of the schools and the possibilities they may have not though of, and to make the schools aware of students who might not otherwise apply. That said 3.7 in a rigorous program isn’t out of the question at all. But those schools are still reaches even for QB students. I don’t know why you don’t read the QB forum, there are threads for matched students and students in the RD round who post stats and results.
I see you posted a lot of chances threads and those are really of no use, so if this is meant as a chances thread just sit tight, results are out soon. I hope you have other school applications in.
There is a whole sub-forum for QB questions inside the Financial Aid Forum. Ask your questions there. That is where the QB experts hang out.
