I got into pioneer as well!
@Peanutbowow, thank you for posting the cost of Pioneer. I contacted them independently to ask for the cost (since I wasn’t selected as a CPS), and they email me back saying to log into an information session. You’ve saved me the trouble. There’s absolutely no way my family (or I) can pay for it.
So, does anyone know about the other summer programs yet? They said mid-May…
I’m very curious about the concept of the Virtual National College Comference. Is anyone “going” by any chance?
My question is: Do they give the national colleges comference to people who are less impressive than the other candidates? I don’t live in a state where the college conferences are held at, so that’s why I assumed I got the virtual conference. But I’ve heard others from Texas were invited to Yale for the conference.
I’m extremely grateful for receiving this opportunity, so this isn’t me trash talking that, but I would just like to know how they determine who to send and who not to.
Any opinions are appreciated!
@Sophie00 did you hear from Pratt?
@spaceprincess5 Oh I’m so sorry! I just saw this! I actually emailed Questbridge and they said that everyone had already been notified about summer programs so if you didn’t get accepted, you didn’t get in. Sadly, I didn’t get in But its okay and those who weren’t accepted might still get the award, so that’s something to look forward to!
Does anybody know if the Quest for Excellence Awards results were given out yet?
Can anyone share the essay prompt and all the writing requirements with me ?
@cici18 I’ll try based off of what I remember/have saved!
Biographical Essay:
“We are interested in learning more about you and the context in which you have grown up, formed your aspirations, and accomplished your academic successes. Please describe the factors and challenges that have most shaped your personal life and aspirations. How have these factors helped you to grow?”
Short Essay: Community
What do you admire most about your community? What would you improve?
Short Essay: Perspective
Describe an experience which caused you to change your perspective and/or opinion
Short Essay: Interest
Tell us about a concept, theory, or topic you have explored simply because it sparked your intellectual curiosity. Why do you find it intriguing? How do you want to further explore it?
Those were the essay prompts last year (don’t know if they will change for 2019).
Also, there are awards you can apply for that require small essays, and for the summer programs you’re interested in, you need to write a bit just explaining why you’d like to attend. You’ll also have to write a short paragraph about your most meaningful activity and how you formed any career/educational goals.
Here’s what the STEM award prompt was, for instance:
What experience(s) sparked your interest in the field of science or math (including computer science and engineering)? (Please be specific about which field of STEM.) (300 words)
I hope that helps (if you plan on applying to QuestBridge College Prep Scholars)! I know it might seem overwhelming at first, but just take it one step at a time and believe in yourself and your story. Try to start early if you can, even if it’s just brainstorming. Good luck to you!
Hey guys I’m applying for the CPS 2019, what advice do you all have to give? Thank you!
Is there anyone with low stats that got in willing to share them?
