The application opened yesterday and I haven’t seen any one of these started yet for this year so here’s a thread to discuss anything about the application!
This app is LONG. No procrastinating any of this. Especially, if you want to apply for any of the awards.
Also, there’s going to be multiple webcasts. Every couple of weeks there will be ‘Questcasts’ to help applicants better understand what Questbridge is and how to submit a great app.
@Hamlon where are the 'Questcasts" gonna be hosted? And yea while I was filling out some of the basic information, I noticed how extensive the app is. I’m most likely going to work on a lot rough drafts for the essay this weekend.
Where do we include awards from ECs? Is it under “Honors” under the testing section?
@kassh4 Yeah. Honors should be the right place.
Are our counselors required to do anything for this app?
@Hamlon I’m pretty sure they aren’t required to do anything but they still ask for their information to tell them that you’re applying I guess and also if you want to add them for a referral. Other then that they don’t do much.
Do we have to upload all AP tests we have taken? Is there any way I can not send a certain score that is on my score report?
@solarsystem It says on that page that you are required to submit every score.
My school goes by Semesters not quarters. Im so confused when im adding in my courses what to I put.
@kassh4 I am too. My school posts grades by semester and also calculates a full-year grade, so I have been listing full year. Hope that was the right thing to do.
Some of my one semester courses(Dual Credit) count for 2 semesters of credit. Really confusing. Is it okay that I listed them for one term?
I honestly have no clue. Also what if you got different grades in different semesters. I think i’m going to email QB see what they say.
@kassh4 @Hamlon What I did is that since my school grades quarterly but averages out a semester grade, I just set term 1 as the first semester and term 2 as the second semester. For classes in which I got the same grade for each semester I just set it as a full year grade and separated grades between term 1 and 2 if I got different grades for the class each semester cause my school doesn’t do an overall year grade. I just specified everything in the explanation box they gave.
If that made no sense, I’ll just use an example:
When I took AP Psychology I got an A the first semester and an A the second semester so I just chose the full year option and put an A. For AP European History I got a B the first semester and an A the second semester so I first selected Term 1 and put B, then added the same course but selected Term 2 and put A.
@solarsystem Yeah thats what i did too.
What did you guys put when it asked you what your weighted GPA was out of. My UW is out of 4.0 but im not sure what W is out of i went and asked my counselor but he wasn’t much help he said it was out of 4.0 and ill just have over a 4.0 because of the extra boost.
@kassh4 @solarsystem @Hamlon according to this https://questbridge.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/218778347 you’re supposed to list it by terms if your school grades by semester, not as a full year
@kassh4 My school calculates unweighted gpa out of 100. I put the same scale for weighted even though it would theoretically be possible to have a 110. Putting 4.0 is fine.
link didn’t upload right the first time so just google “questbridge When adding courses to the Coursework section, what do you mean by “Term”?”
Hi, I am so nervous about this app. I come from a low income family and I have a strong GPA but I don’t have a good test score? does anyone know how important test scores are to Quest-bridge when applying?
