There are only four schools that are non-binding: MIT, Princeton, Stanford, and Yale. I’m not sure where you heard from, but from what I know, if you get matched to any other schools you pretty much have to go. Even sometimes in Early Decision acceptance for some colleges, students sometimes opt out because they don’t get enough financial aid. However, this is extremely rare. With the college match you are literally getting a full ride, so I don’t really see any way a student could opt out of it.
And blacklisting is a very grey area. Personally I don’t know much about it so I can’t really give any definite answer. Maybe talk to your guidance counselor about it or email quest bridge admissions.
Duke is now a partner college…why couldn’t they have done this earlier. Either way, good luck to everyone with interviews and then more good luck to everyone who will be opening decisions in a little over two months!
Has anyone who was deferred from Stanford heard from them at all since December? I’ve heard that deferred students got links to Optional Update Forms, and I haven’t gotten anything like that, so I emailed the admissions office about a month ago, but I haven’t heard back yet.
@FiveFactorial This is just a guess but i’m assuming the Optional Update Forms are like a Midyear Report? On Questbridge for Stanford applicants it says that you should have sent in a Midyear through your counselor. I’d try emailing them again and ask if they need anything else from you, maybe email the stanford questbridge contact whose email you can find on Questbridge.
For anyone who applied to Stanford and/or Princeton through the College Match and wasn’t matched, have you received anything allowing you to track your financial aid material?
Is there a results thread for RD results among QuestBridge non-matched finalists? It would be good for next year’s applicants, but I can’t seem to find one.
