Same, I’m at a lost for a good safety that gives a decent amount of FA. Im applying to one’s Honors college cus, if I gotta go to my safety, why not Honors? Too bad its gotta be submitted via EA.
I’m kinda screwed if I don’t get into any of my reach/target schools. I mean I’m applying in state to the honors college but ehhh. It makes me queasy to think about. There’s always graduate school ha haha ha…
@rocksanddirt SAME. Except I’m not residing in the US, so I don’t qualify for instate tuition in the UC schools in California, my home state. Hoping for just one acceptance from my reach/match colleges. The pressure, man!
new to this…
But does questbridge care much about SATs?
@verizonwireless If you can make up for it with other stronger components that’s helpful. But they say they look at applicants “holistically.” But it does carry some wait like any other application. They ARE looking for academically strong low income students after all.
I know… but the 75th percentile for QB applicants are people who score over a 2050…
And for some QB partner colleges, a 2050 puts you below the 25th percentile…(in fact, I’d say for a majority of QB partner colleges)
this is why I ask, how much weight does the sat hold for QB applicants in particular, because I know that QB is more concerned with grades, ECs, work, and overall story/hardships and how you overcame them.
@verizonwireless Questbridge is going to look more at your story and how you’ve achieved in spite of it. When it comes to actually matching a school then test scores it might carry more weight. But then again, all of the Quest schools are definitely reach school’s regardless how good your test scores are. I like to think about it like this: no one, absolutely no one can 100% expect to get into some off these schools, you can only hope for the best. Granted other people may be more qualified than others but still. For instance: over the summer at a seminar I attended, I found out that only about 33ish% of applicants with 2400’s get accepted into Princeton. Further, only about 17ish% of valedictorian applicants get in. It goes to show, test scores aren’t everything. So long as they’re not abysmally low, they alone won’t keep you out. Sorry for the long comment, but I really wanted to get the point across.
Can anyone else not submit the match agreement? I go to the Download Match Agreement PDF link and it takes me to an error page.
"404 Not Found

the url is https://apply.questbridge.org/apply/download.pdf?part=application:matchagreement, is there something wrong with the link itself?
Does anybody want to trade/swap essays? I’m curious to see how and what others wrote . . . plus the wait is killing me. Also, what schools did you guys rank? And what’d you write for Quest for Excellence, if you did write for Quest for Excellence.
I ranked: 1. Columbia University
2. Brown University
3. Oberlin College
4. Princeton University
I want to major in Creative Writing and Psychology at top-tier school where it’s cheap for me to come home, so Columbia seemed to be the best choice for me.
Hi, @CeruleanShadow. If you want PM me with your essays and I’ll reply with my own.
I ranked:
- Yale.
- Princeton.
- Stanford.
- UChicago.
I want to major in History and Political Science, and minor in Economics.
hey guys! I have a question about the binding nature of the college match
I’m concerned about the testing requirements – specifically the two SAT subject tests – for Columbia. I ranked 8 schools for the college match, Columbia being the top one, and submitted the match agreement form and everything.
On Columbia’s website, they say they’ll accept scores from the november SAT test date for early decision, which is due november 1. I thought the same would be true for applying through questbridge since that’s also due november 1, but then I saw the Columbia FAQ for questbridge specifically and they said that the october test date was the last one they would consider. maybe this is because the questbridge match results come back two weeks earlier (december 1 instead of 15), but I sent Columbia an email anyway to try to clarify.
I only have one subject test left to take to meet Columbia’s requirement, and I really want to be eligible to match with them. If I’m not, however, I’m wondering if it might be better to not follow through with the match and apply to Columbia ED and some of the other schools EA. However, would I be able to do this if I already submitted the match agreement form and my rankings?
TL;DR Columbia accepts November SAT’s for ED but only up to October for Questbridge applicants. Is there any way I can scrap my rankings/match agreement form and apply to Columbia ED?
I’m getting really anxious right now. Ranked
1)Columbia
2)Yale
3)Brown
4)Upenn
5)Stanford
6)MIT
Haha I realized later that I didnt even have a math sat 2 (taking it in November) so I dont even fill their requirements. Well, there was a slim chance I was going to go there anyways. Time to cram some application essays. Let’s go!
1.Stanford
2. Columbia
3. Brown
4. Yale
5. Princeton
6. UPenn
7. UChicago
8. Northwestern
9. Pomona
10. Tufts
11. UVa
12. Williams
Muhaha. Oh, the essays to do.
I ranked:
- Stanford
- Princeton
- Yale
- Brown
- USC
- Notre Dame
I might change the rankings around a bit after Finalist results… if I become a Finalist, that is!
Results come out in 4 days. Good luck, everybody! (:
I’m ED’ing to Dartmouth, so I didn’t rank colleges. Hopefully I’ll get to list QuestBridge finalist as an honor on my Common App
Does anyone know when results come out?
@gearsstudio I believe it comes out on October 21st. Only a few more days…
Question guys:
So for the Questbridge app, I self-reported all my scores because some of my schools required them. Now for those schools that allow score choice, am I required to send in all of them since I self-reported them? Furthermore, should I still self-report all scores on the common app since I already reported it on the Questbridge app?
Thanks in advance!
@deedee23 OMG LITERALLY THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MEEE!!! Columbia is my #1 school and I assumed the same exact thing you did. I realized about 2 weeks before rankings were due that we must take 2 subject tests and I’ve only taken 1. Big mess up on my part. So what I did was rank 2 non-binding schools (which I would list anyway) because I still want to have a chance to at least apply to Columbia.
I think I read somewhere that the worst the admissions office can do is defer you (not completely reject you) so if you are deferred you can just send in your other subject test score and they can consider it with your application. Also, there is an opportunity to re-rank your schools. I don’t think you can add schools and I’m not sure if you can delete them, but maybe you can delete Columbia or just put other schools above it.
@lilmonet1
You can delete and change rankings but you can’t add any. I feel as though just ranking Columbia to have some sort of chance is better than never knowing. Like you said, the worst case scenario is being deferred.
