Hey guys, i'm going to be applying to some competitive colleges and i wanted to get your opinions. I have a 32 on the ACT and have not taken any SATIIs. I would like to know if it would be better to stick with the 32 and try to get an 800 on the subject I'll be majoring in (Biology) or if my time would be better spent trying to pull that ACT up. I guess I'm just looking for what colleges would prefer. Thanks!

Colleges don’t care IF they take the ACT in lieu of SAT IIs. Many top schools do not.

Some colleges require you to take SAT II subject tests even if you take the ACT as opposed to the SAT. So I personally would recommend doing both. I did the ACT/SAT II route and found that balancing the two was not that difficult ( especially if you take an SAT II in math, they are quite similar to ACT math)

OK to be more clear, the colleges I want to apply to do not require a SATII subject test with the ACT… Would a subject test give me a bettershot? Or would strengthening that ACT be my priority

I think you should take the SAT II. Your ACT is good enough and you should focus on getting recognized that you are not only good at biology, but have the ambition to go above and beyond to show that.
