Question about applying for schools.

I'm confised about the proccess of getting into colleges for MT. So after you apply for the school, how do you get your audition appointment if you're auditioning through Unifieds? And what if you don't get into MT, but get into the school itself? Or can that even happen? Could someone straighten this out for me?

Check each school’s application and website. It varies a little. Some schools have you request an appointment date on the application and some will let you book after the application is completed. To audition at Unifieds you book with each school seperately. Check where the audition dates are listed.

Some schools will not let you audition until you have an acceptance into the school. Some will not bother sending an academic acceptance until you have been accepted into the MT department. Some will accept you into the school and yet you don’t get accepted into the MT department.

Check and double check the websites and applications for each school’s policy. You might want to create a spreadsheet of each school’s policies. Also- if you get an academic acceptance and don’t get into the MT major and you REALLY know that you are not going to go to that school, let the school know asap so that they can free up the spot for someone on the waitlit and redistribute any scholarship money.

And if I get accepted into the MT program, they send a seperatre acceptance letter from the one that tells me I’m accepted into the school?

Once again the schools all differ. Some schools have one process, you are accepted as an BFA/MT or not at all. Other schools might accept you academically then reject you in a separate letter from the MT program leaving you the choice of choosing another major. In rare cases someone is accepted into the BFA program but rejected academically. In those instances depending on the school and the program they will fight to get you in or there is nothing they can do and you don’t have the opportunity to accept their offer into the BFA program. Some of the bifurcated schools will defer you academically if you are on the fence post until your audition results come in from the BFA program and then make a final decision. Make sure you contact the schools individually for the correct answer.
