Question about Bearfacts grades

Are the grades that are up on Bear Facts > Current Grades > Final Grades the ABSOLUTE FINAL grades for the course? Just wondering, because I seem to have received an A in math, which seems like it must be wrong, because I didn't think I'd end up with higher than a B+ given one of my midterm grades.

I've never seen one to be different before.

yes they are the absolute final grades. that sounds like a good difference of opinion for you.

Yeah those are the final class grades. Congratulations!

your Professor might have dropped a midterm. or else you did very well on the Final compared to the other people in your class.

Are you talking about 16A with Demmel? I think the curve must have been outrageous because I ended up with a way better grade than expected too.

Actually I was in 1A with Hald. But I think the curve helped us too! :P

They are final unless you can dispute it otherwise. The bad part is that if you dispute it, registrar will note that your grade was changed on your transcript via an asterisk (*) next to the grade.

I had an instructor post the incorrect grade and upon correction, registrar made a note that said grade changed by instructor. I took a class and gotten an A so my instructor emails me to congratulate me ona job well done. When I later checked Bearfacts, my grade was posted as a B. So I petitioned the grade and they made me jumped all kind of hurdles by filling out forms and contacting the department dean/instructor/registrar and along the way an administrator said it would get changed. A year or so goes by, and it is still has not been changed. So I go through the whole ordeal again calling/emailing people (because I graduated and moved to SoCal). By this time, I was no longer a student so I could not access Bearfacts, but I was reassured that the correction had been done.

When it came time to apply to graduate school, I ordered my transcript (~$10-15) and I check my grades, and it was changed with the asterisk. So due to an instructor error, I have to write an addendum to every graduate school to explain the asterisk >_<

That is SO lame Tax Bear...did you ever bring your ordeal up to the administration?

No, because I already know what the response will be: this is the university's policy. My friend had the same thing happened to him, and now he is in graduate school at UCLA, so I do not really think the (*) is going to be much of an issue.

It is more of an eye-sore and annoyance than anything. Had the note said instructor posted incorrect grade or something similar, I would be less annoyed. The other statement is too vague and can mean anything. Even with the addendum, an admission officer can postulate that maybe I got a grade I was dissatisfied with and complained enough or argued some insignificant point or technicality to get a grade change.

Luckily, I kept copies of all my correspondences and the original instructor email if it really ever came up.

Oh great. I passed a DeCal this semester, but it was incorrectly entered as a NP. I've been told that it would be changed, but so far it hasn't been changed in Bear Facts. What a pain and annoyance, especially if it gets an * next to it!

that really sucks for you, taxbear, i got an incorrect grade last semester, got it changed this fall, and i don't there is an asterik on my transcript (atleast not on bearfacts)
