I am an international, and part of Bryn Mawr’s class of 2013. I was wondering how could I earn some credits before starting college, in fall 2009, knowing that in my country I cannot take AP exams, neither IB, or French Baccalaureate or the Abitur, as it is for German. Is there such a possibility for me? (I heard I can give AP exams at the end of August, at Bryn Mawr, just before the courses begin?!? Is this true?)

Do you want to start with higher-level courses, or do you actually need the credits?

We have departmental placement exams in August right before classes start. They allow you to test out of intro courses, but you won't get any credit for them. AP exams are administered only once a year in April or May.

The only option to earn college credit in between now and Bryn Mawr is to take an actual college class. I don't know if you can do that in that in Romania, but you could come to the States a month or two early and take summer classes at a community college (or a regular university, but community colleges are cheaper).

My plan was to start with higher-level courses. However, it seems that I will most probably start with 0 credits (:P), because none of the suggested ideas above will work for me (a.k.a. I don't have the opportunity to come to the US in advance and take classes at a community college/university; also, classes in Romania will be of no use, I'm sure).
Thank you very much! :)

I never heard of any AP exams in August.
