Question about EOP? TRANSFERRING process.

Hello all,

I applied to this school through the transfer application. In the process, I applied for eop even tho I never participated in any similar program at my current school. I meet all of the criteria for it & I know ill be needing all the financial help i can get if i end up in a state school. Stony brook along with a few other schools i applied to request that i send them a EOP transfer verification form.

According to the form, it says my program director needs to fill out the information. However, as i mentioned, I was never a part of a program (which i regret). Can i fill it out myself?

Below i attached a link to the form. Please disregard the institution name. All suny school i applied to have the same exact form.

thanks

If you did not participate in EOP at your previous school, you cannot be considered for EOP here. EOP is a freshman-only program.

It doesn’t mean you won’t qualify for financial aid, it’s just that the EOP program has very specific guidelines.

Chris

Yeah, I just got a letter from Stony Brook stating that. So there is NO way i can apply for the Eop program as a transfer student, who never previously participated?

I was told by another college i applied to (binghamton), that i need to sumit my eop verification form before they process my entire application. Like i said, i never participated in any eop/seek program at my college. Should i call them up and inform them of that? During the application process, it seemed fine when i applied for eop. I don’t want that to hinder my acceptance at other schools… Please, and thanks.

of course, i’ll like to be a part of the eop program if possible.

The only way you COULD qualify is if the school you were transferring from didn’t offer an EOP/SEEK program or the equivalent; the problem is that most of them do.

What is it you’re looking for out of the EOP program?

Chris

Chris,

Unfortunately my school does offer seek program. However, i made the mistake of not participating. I definitely qualify. My main purpose for getting into the EOP program is the financial assistance.

As far as my application with binghamton, do i still need to call them up? Suggestion for what i should say? Thanks

~william

They’ll figure it out soon enough when you don’t return the form. Like I said, you cannot transfer into an EOP program – there are no exceptions; you must start as a freshman.

If you have financial need, though, you’ll still qualify for aid. There isn’t much aid that EOP students get that non-EOP students wouldn’t qualify for. EOP is NOT a financial aid program; it’s an academic support program. Contact the financial aid office at 631-632-6840 and talk with them about your specific situation and what help might be available to you.

Chris

Alright, thank you so much for your help, Chris.
