i plan on lofting my bed. I like the little study cave. Just put a curtain up and you can lock yourself away for some intense studying or just some down time.

Most people loft if they can. My room freshman year was about 10 x 15 and we were able to fit in a futon with both beds lofted and our dressers stacked. If we hadn't, we wouldn't have been able to fit the futon and it would have been pretty cramped. You get used to climbing up into bed and having them overhead. The extra space is worth it.

Thanks for all the info! But I was reading that rooms with modular furniture cannot have elevated bed structures. Is this true? But I guess you can bunk them?

That doesn't sound right to me. Check specifically with your hall. You will eventually find out at Frosh-O so I wouldn't worry about it until then.

10x15! That's huge compared to my room!

Is anyone familiar with Bed Bath and Beyond's service of ordering stuff at home and picking it up there? What is it called?

They do offer this service as far as having it shipped directly to your dorm.

For a limited time, we are offering a special college "Pack & Hold" shipping feature. We can delay shipment of your merchandise until your college mailroom begins to accept packages. Pack & Hold orders will ship by our Standard method only (Expedited and Express ship methods are currently not available for Pack & Hold orders). Once a Pack & Hold order is submitted, we are unable to make any product or delivery date changes. Please see our College Shipping Policies for additional information.

As far as having it at the store under your name, I have been searching for the same thing. I believe you may just have it shipped to store and pick the one by ND you want to go to on the store locator. They do have a live chat feature on the checkout page, I will try to ask there and post response.

The live chat is impossible to get thru to w/o computer freezing. I attempted 3 times.

You: my son will be attending college in IN
You: we live in NY
You: can i order online and have the items shipped to a store in IN for my pickup?
Ron: no the pack and hold option would have to be done in our stores

I tend to think from this that you have to go to your local BBB and pick your items and they will pack, hold and ship them to arrive at your dorm when you are there.

Anyone else know? I thought in an earlier post someone said that Target holds at there local store for pickup, and I know that Walmart has ship to store for most items.

Ok finally- Here is the info, hope it helps!!!

Unfortunately, we were disconnected from Live Chat. We have 2 ways to make sending your student off to college convenient.

Our site offers an additional shipping method called PACK & HOLD. This will allow you to delay the shipping of your order to the college of your choice, when you need it to arrive. Simply visit our site at www.bedbathandbeyond.com and click on the SHOP FOR COLLEGE TAB. Select all of the items you wish to purchase and add them to your cart. During the checkout process, you will be asked shipping information. Make sure you check with your student's college regarding shipments on campus. Most colleges have a "window" for delivery, so make sure you check the date and the location for shipments. We will pick, pack and hold your package until you the date you chose!

Our Stores also offer Pack N Hold. Simply go to your local BBB and select your items. Our college experts will be happy to help you find the BBB closest to your school. We will hold your items for you to pick up at that store location when you arrive in your college town. You can also locate the store nearest your student's college on our website, under the Shop for College, Store Locator.

I hope this information is helpful. Feel free to email or call us at 1-800-Go-Beyond.

Ok this may be a naive question but w/e

When should I buy books? Should I do it before I get on campus or should I just buy them all there?

I have a question about my schedule about my math course and I might change it. Should I just go and buy the book I need for the current course and then switch it out for the other one if I need to? I'm not quite sure.

Also, about Amazon/half to save money. Should I order them a few days before I get to campus and then just have them shipped to my dorm?

If you're going to order books and have them shipped to your dorm, definitely order them now because mail seems to take a long time to arrive at ND. Every summer, I order my books for the fall semester and have them shipped to my house, and bring them up to school with me since we drive, but every winter break, I order my books for the spring semester and have to ship them to my dorm since I fly back and forth for breaks and can't fit a semester's worth of books in my luggage. It seems to take up to a week longer to receive the packages up at school than it does at home, and I have experienced many occasions where I ordered the books to ship to school two weeks before the start of the semester, and they still didn't arrive until one week after the semester has started. So in conclusion, definitely order now.

I second everything that's been said.

But as for the class you're not sure about - just buy the book, and then return it and buy the new one if you change classes. They give you a period of time to return it for full price which extends at least until the official final day to change classes, so don't worry about it.
