Hi there- daughter has a 3.5+ GPA unweighted. 1880 on SATs. Top 10% in class. Hispanic. What do you think chances are? I was on Princeton Review Bing looks for a 3.7 but I'm not sure if that is weighted or not. Thanks for your advice

I think it’s unweighted, but I’m not sure. I’m concerned about how much top 10 percent matters. I ended up 43/400 which is actually 10.97%… ack! Good luck to your daughter!

I’d say the school is a low match for her, and she should see an acceptance. Good luck!

Admissions decisions are based on many criteria. The numbers that your daughter is displaying seem to be with the average or even above average from last year but the admissions counselors also look at your activities, the school/area you are coming from, how many applicants there are, and especially your essay. You want to make sure your daughter shows that her grades are not who she is…make sure she shows what makes her stand out from the other 30,000 approximately applicants that Binghamton sees. Binghamton also does not look at the writing portion of the SAT so it would be out of 1600, not 2400. All the statistics you need about the University and last years acceptance can be found here: http://www2.binghamton.edu/admissions/pdf/premier-public.pdf. You can also look at the full list of admissions criteria on the apply page on the Binghamton Admissions website: [Binghamton University - Undergraduate Admissions - Apply](http://www2.binghamton.edu/admissions/apply/index.html)

Good luck!

D wrote and asked this question about a month ago as she is an IB diploma candidate. She was told that whatever the high school presents is what’s used because they don’t have time to unweight, reweight or anything else. So the question is what does your high school present.
