Question about honors/ap physics?

Background Info: Medium, above average public school. I am a sophomore and I've been taking AP's since freshman year (got a 5 on the APWH, just thought I'd throw that in here)

So as a junior, next year, I plan to take:

Gym
span 3H
Ap Gov/Ap Econ (1 semester)
AP english 11 (whatever it's actual name is, literature or something)
Ap Calc AB (Taking honors precalc now, geometry honors as freshman, alg2h as 8th grader)
Ap Psych
and Honors Physics.

My main question is whether I should take honors or AP physics. Ap Physics is offered to jr.'s but it has a reputation as one of the more difficult AP's and I think that I need some easier classes next year, right? However, if I take honors as a junior, I was thinking of taking AP Physics next year. Does this look bad on a college app.?

I realize I'm still a sophomore, but i want to go to Uchicago, or Upenn or (ideally) Harvard, although realistically I would be fine with Northwestern. So does it look bad to have honors physics as a jr. and then AP as a senior? Will this make AP easier? How much?

Another related question stems from me taking Calc AB and then BC as a senior, same questions, although I think BC looks really impressive on an application, and will be easier after AB (amirite?)

If you are wondering how I have seven classes listed per year, it's bc. I am taking early bird gym, do you think it will be worth it, or will I look no more impressive to a college than a person taking 6 or 5 classes a year, cuz nobody really wants to wake up at 5 everyday (amirite?)

So yeah that's my rant and my three question. Answers por favore?

bumpity bump bump bump (answers plz?)

try ap physics, drop if its too hard. Can you do that at your school? We usually have until the start of the second semester to decide whether to stick with a class, and your grades don’t hurt you if you switch classes (an F in ap physics won’t transfer over to honors)

It doesn’t look bad to take honors first, but AP physics first is kinda like a badge of honor. You’re the best of the best. If you get AP physics out of the way junior year, you can take AP Bio and AP Chem and AP Stats and AP Calc BC or whatever else you need to/want to still take.

Why are you so worried about your junior year schedule now, and what is your sophomore year schedule? How you do in Chem should be a strong indication of how you would expect to do in physics (unless you get A’s in chem, don’t do AP Physics)

B or C? 10char

well are school is communist and opens in the middle of summer, we are already a month into it, and our school does next year registration around october-ish, plus I like to plan ahead (this is cc, doesn’t everybody?)

I’m acing chem with a 102, and i think that I’ll take ap physics and drop it if it’s too hard, at my school, you can only level change before labor day.

And yeah, it’s ap physics b, it’s probably one of the hardest ap’s at my school. Also, my sophomore schedule…(copy and pasted) is:

precalc honors
spanish 2h
APUSH
Gym
Chem H
Eng H

I guess I’ll try it, but drop it if it is too hard, or if the rest of my classes are (more likely scenario, as calc ab is gonna suck)

stay with AP physics if you’re doing that well in chem. pack in your AP’s junior year when it matters the most, so then if you want, you can scale down your schedule senior year. I took full course loads my first 3 years, and now I only have 5 classes (4 are AP’s) and basically am only in school for half a day. it’s the best, more time to focus on fewer classes.

It’s still AP, so it won’t be your easiest class, but it shouldn’t be super-hard. In my school district, at least, AP Physics B = Physics Honors w/ and AP test at the end. I don’t know why they say that Phys b is hard (calc should be harder), maybe just people who suck at physics, or a bad teacher, or something.

At our school ap Physics is one of the hardest ap’s, and we have somewhere between 15-20 total. I don’t think that it’ll be that hard, ut many of my other classes will be (AB), and I still want time to do SOME e.c’s/ have a social life.

Def try ap physics. Just because itsknown to be the hardest AP doesn’t mean it is. As long as you put in the time and dedication into it, you’ll be fine. :)
