i passed the old whap test. if i were to take the new world history ap exam this year would it count towards ap scholar awards?
probably the same thing that happened to people who did the same (similar) with comp sci a/ab and physics b/1-2? how did that work?
thanks
According to Trevor Packer, the AP awards are going away, although he did not specify timing.
My understanding is that for all intents and purposes, the revised APWH is simply a revision, so a retake would only count once.
Comp Sci AB was an extension of Comp Sci A.much like Calc AB and Calc BC, so probably counted twice. I’m never heard of anyone taking AP Physics 1/2 after AP Physics B, but since 1/2 were new exams, my guess is taking them all counted as 3 exams.
@skieurope That is interesting. Did he say why?
He was talking about:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/a-multiple-choice-test-will-10-aps-get-you-ready-for-yale-yes-no-maybe/2018/12/20/61347fb0-03b0-11e9-9122-82e98f91ee6f_story.html?noredirect=on
and the CB study that I cannot find a link for but is called “Studying the Benefits of Taking APs” by Beard. Hsu, et. al. which basically says that there is little incremental benefit to more than 6 APs… And in response to a question posed about the AP Awards contributing to the madness that more APs = better, responded “Exactly. That’s why we’re eliminating it.”
ToS for this site prevents me from linking, but it was a Tweet from 7/1/2019
And reviewing his Twitter feed, it looks like AP Awards are toast for 2019-2020:
