Can a Resume be too long? Mine is 4.5 pages long and I am no where near being done. Plus I just finished my sophomore years, so I know I will have a plethora to add at the end of the year.

One page is what some say to keep it at. However, mine was 2 pages after a few years in college.

I'd say 3 pages tops, better it be 2. I see no reason why you'd need a 5 page resume, unless you record every time you sneeze.

Mine was 3...dont be afraid of length, but dont go overboard. Too long and people will suspect that you are padding it, too short and people assume you aren't accomplished. If you aren't sure, err on the side of short.

Brevity, better learn it now.

Highlights only.
bullets style.
It will be your life.

ie

boys state 06
capt. lacrosse 06
Who's who 05
capt hockey 05

"I did this and this and that" is not a Resume. Look it up-- google Resume.

After each thing I put a discription about what the requirements were or what I did. FOr instance under leadership positions i put Squadron Commander then described what I did. I guess take all that out

Thanks

There are finite lines on an OPR.
Each has finite space.
If you can not cut it down to fit in a space you will never do well.

Write a 1 page summary for the SAF. He wants 1 page.

Can you please tell me what OPR and SAF stand for, thank you.

OPR=Officer Performance Report
SAF=Sec. of Air Force

Sorry sir, im a little confused. Are you saying write a one page resume for the Sec. of Air Force so he can write a letter of recommendation.

If it's possible, you should make it shorter... I'm not necessarily saying that you should take some stuff out, but shorten your descriptions of activities and stuff. For nominations, one of our senators asked us to submit a one-page resume for our application... I had to make the font extra small and lop off a lot of stuff from my resume. I wasn't happy. So if you can, keep it pretty simple.

Each MOC (Member Of Congress) committee will know what certain things like Eagle Scout, Class President, team captain, etc. entail. If you do something that virtually no one has heard of, then give a short sentence to describe it.

Bullet points are the best way.
Watch the spacing if you run just over what you want.

"Are you saying write a one page resume for the Sec. of Air Force so he can write a letter of recommendation."

No.

I'm a referring to life in the AF. You will be asked to write a summary, 1 page for the boss. If you can't do that simple thing you are doomed. You need to be able to decipher the important points and present them. The boss's time is finite. He does not want 5 pages.

The point of a resume it is a "summary" of your life. People will ask you in your interview more about the things you did in your postions.

You can be brief and sound accomplished.
