Does anyone know whether the scholarship materials (essays, etc.) are assessed as part of the application package, or whether they are looked at separately? I would like to direct this question to someone at Wash U admissions as well, so if someone could suggest to me who might give me the best answer to this, that would be wonderful as well. Thanks!

The scholarship materials is looked at separately by a select scholarship committee. Your application to the school is viewed by admissions counselors. From what I remember, the decisions of the two committees never cross paths unless the scholarship committee deems you a finalist, in which case you are automatically accepted into the school.

There is a specific contact person for each scholarship program, and you can ask to speak to this person if you call the admissions office and name which scholarship program you are interested in inquiring about.
