Question about sending in W2s and 1040s

Do I send them to all the colleges I applied to, or do I send them in to the one school I want to go to once I get accepted? I'm confused.

THANKS.

Only if they ask. Probably just the ones you're accepted to.

Check the college websites and read the financial aid forms carefully. Three of the schools my d has applied to require 1040s and W-2's as part of the FA application process and won't consider the application complete without them. Two also ask for the 2005 returns until 2006 are ready.

Chedva is absolutely correct. Some colleges want the tax info as part of the finaid application process. And check to see what they want (two years, one year, all W-2 and 1099 forms, etc) as that varies too.

And make sure they are signed!

That surprises me
None of the schools d applied to asked for tax forms until she had submitted her acceptance of the package.
Filling out the FAFSA and PROFILE is quite extensive and while I understand that some schools ask some students to submit tax forms after admittance, to do so before hand, when they already have lots of other info seems to be saying that they don't trust parents when they submit their FAFSA with a signature stating that the information is accurate.
Every week we read in the papers about personal data being stolen, and I don't like ( and have refused) to submit social security numbers before, when I didn't feel there was enough reason, let alone submit my private tax and business information to schools that I wouldn't even know if my kids would be attending.

Cornell wants fin aid app and last years tax returns by Jan 1 (the same day the regular application is due)
