Hello. Currently, my college asks me to take out a $800 in subsidized loans and $2,700 in unsubsidized loans. However, I heard something about borrowing more federal loans if the university does not give you enough. Can I decline my $2700 in unsubsidized and borrow $2700 in subsidized instead?

No. The subsidized loans are need based loans. They will be based on the school calculating you have remaining financial need (the COA less EFC less any grant/scholarship/WS etc). The school cannot give you more subsidized loans that your ‘need’.Unsubsidized loans are not need based.
