Question about the Common Prescreen Slate

The instructions specify that there should not be a separate video for slating. (“There should not be a separate “slate” video, rather slates are to appear at the beginning of each piece.”)

I just wanted clarification that it wouldn’t be against the rules to attach the slate at the top of the monologue to make one whole video, right?
I interpreted that instruction to mean they don’t want the slates as a separate piece of media. Was I right in this interpretation?

We have the same interpretation. We added the slate (written) to each individual video clip. You can also “speak” the slate before each one. You should probably not do both. There were 2 out of the 10 schools that had prescreens that specifically said that a slate was not needed on the dance video. So just re-read the individual school requirements before submitting. Hope this helps.

That is correct. This year, they are included in the time, so you have 60-90 seconds INCLUDING slate.

I tell my students that your slate should take no longer than 4-5 seconds and sometimes it is easier (and quicker) to record separately and edit together.
