Question about the essay!

On the SAT I have always only written a 4 paragraph essay and gotten a score of 10. However, I've been looking at the examples for the ACT essays and it seems that everyone writes 5 paragraphs? It is very hard for me to write a full 5 paragraph essay in the given time. Besides that, I often cannot think of more than 2 major points to develop. Does anyone know if you can still receive a high score with only 4 paragraphs?

be sure to add a refutation paragraph, otherwise you’ll probably get a crappy score. that’ll get you to 5 paragraphs.

my problem with that is whenever i try a refuting paragraph I end up incorporating one of my two arguments into it so i’m only left with one

I often use 4 paragraphs, or the occasion 5. However, I have been practicing writing 5 paragraphs because I need to include one refutation and 2 more supporting body paragraphs. And of course, the usual intro and finale.
