Question about withdrawing colleges...

Hello CC community I got into a college through early decision and the rule is to withdraw any college applications once accepted and agreed to enroll at my ED school. I have already withdrawn all my colleges except one college that i got into through EA (early action). Is there a deadline when I should withdraw my EA college to attend my ED school? The reason why I am not withdrawing my EA school now is that I am low key afraid of getting rescinded from my ED school…(for grade drop reason…) so that I have at least one college to attend if i get rescinded. Thanks for the help!

How much did your IB grades drop compared to the predicted levels? I don’t know if NYU’s rules for international students are different than those for domestic students. Generally, the rules are no D’s, F’s, or felonies, but if you had a huge grade drop that could be a problem. Are you done with school or do you have another term?

im not sure about my final ib grade but it is going to come out on january 3rd. I graduated high school a month ago. i only applied with ib predicted and plus i was a recruited athlete…im trying to get the deposit payment done ASAP so…

Do you have conditions for acceptance as a recruited athlete? If they gave you any paperwork I’d read it.

Colleges here won’t reopen until Jan. 3rd. When you get your scores you can contact NYU to find out if they’re acceptable. If they are, make your deposit and cancel the EA. If not, it sounds like your only option is the EA school.

no i did not get any paper work as a recruited athlete and i heard that they only need final score just for a proof of graduation policy…also do you happen to know if rescinding offer is common at NYU?

You must have something after your ED acceptance that says what is expected with regard to senior year grades, look on the portal.

Generally, schools won’t rescind unless there is a D or F (or disciplinary/legal issues)…for IB a D or F would roughly be a 0, 1, or 2…is that a possibility in any of your classes?

If you do receive a failing score, you must contact the NYU admissions office to give them a heads up, and discuss options. I don’t know NYU’s practices specifically, but scores would likely have to be very poor to rescind a full-pay international, but they could want you to retake any failed classes.

no there is no way that im gonna fail a subject. im just worried that it would be too far off from ib predicted. i will defintiely get the diploma and not fail any subject. my only worry are these…

@Mwfan1921 well yeah of course it said admissions is contignent upon… on the acceptance letter but they say that to everybody.

You cannot hold onto the EA acceptance “just in case.”

The general rule often quoted on CC is to avoid D’s F’s and felonies and you should be fine. Also don’t post anything offensive on social media.

NYU doesn’t rescind easily. You’d have to totally mess up.
And yes, as per the letter of offer you got from NYU, you are expected to withdraw other applications upon acceptance of your place at NYU.

@SJ2727 yh thanks for the reply but will nyu know if i did or didnt withdraw my ea school acceptance?

How can they recind you on IB predecicted grades? You haven’t taken the exams or received the marks. Unless you completely tank and fail those, you shouldn’t worry about it. My daughter that did IB was never asked about predicted grades. She was into her ED school and they never asked for her IB scores or diploma.

@CottonTales they actually do require final ib grades and i alreayd took the exams, waiting for the results. I shouldnt worry too much but was just wondering.

@MrDiaz, you signed an agreement that you are ethically bound by. You got your place from that agreement. Stick to it.

Suffice it to say that if it is discovered that you held onto your EA acceptance it is quite possible that both your EA and ED colleges will revoke your acceptances.

i just withdrew my binghamton EA acceptance and I just said “attending elsewhere”
