Question for Engineering Majors...

Which classes are more difficult - the Math and Physics classes or the actual Engineering classes?

The answer to this will depend on the program and the person. I personally think that my calculus II class and my intro programming class were the hardest college classes I have ever taken, but they were pretty atypical classes for those subjects.

In your case, probably the engineering classes will be harder, not because engineering is harder than math/physics, but because you will be taking classes in engineering past the introductory level.

It depends on the professor, how the class is structured, your interest in the class, and the time of day of the class. A very early morning class you couldn’t care less about with an extremely boring professor definitely makes it more challenging (I speak from experience).

I think my physics and math courses were harder. But it could be due to various reasons looking back. For one, in my engineering classes were my fellow che students and it was easier to study more. The professor definitely got to know us all better, even though some of my engineering classes had more students than my physics or cal 2,3 classes. One of my professors throws a party at a local bar at the end of the semester and puts EVERYTHING on his tab, but I digress.

Also, it could have been because I was more excited about taking an engineering classes versus something like organic chemistry. But I really think it was because of the professors. Looking back again, the assignments in my engineering classes were more involved and required teamwork and getting to know my classmates. In the other classes, we would have tests, quizzes, and maybe hw for grades. In the engineering classes we had that plus other special design projects and hw had to be done in teams.
