Hello all- I'm new to this site and wanted to try to get some advice. I'm a recent graduate of Rutgers NB. My overall GPA was a 3.3 with a double major in Economics and Psychology. I currently am working at a brokerage firm specializing in currency trading in the financial district. I'm looking within the next couple years to get an MBA. What are my chances of going to a top 20 school? top 50? I havent taken any standardized tests but have scored top 20% on SATS so I believe I can do well on the GMATs.

You sound like a solid top-50 candidate.

The only reason I don’t say “top 20 candidate” is because you sound like you only have 1 year (or less) of work experience. Additionally, assuming you’d score in the 80th percentile on the GMAT as well, you’d be getting a 650. You’ll need about 680+, and 3 years work experience for a top-20 program. Also, you’ll hear this a lot, your essays are your selling point. If you can prove through your essays that you’re MBA-worthy, you’ll surpass several drawbacks.

Good luck!

Thank You Marquizzo, great explanation. I appreciate your post!
