Question on setting up email

what is Cornell postoffice acount? it gives me the option to have my mail sent there, the option to not have it sent to my NETid@Cornell.edu, or the option to send it to several places. What should i do and what do they all mean?

so...you can access your Cornell e-mail via www.webmail.cornell.edu or via uportal.cornell.edu. The post office is the server your mail is stored on....I think.

If you choose to have your e-mail sent to the postoffice...you have to use the methods I mentioned above to access your mail.

You can choose to have your mail addressed to your NetID sent to another account...i.e. to gmail

Also...you can download their mail client and your e-mail can be downloaded to your desktop....super convenient. I use my Mac mail client to get my email.

Do you get to choose your email address or are they assigned to you? I feel like the ones I've seen are really ugly, like just your initials and a number after that shows how many people had the same initials before you. I guess that means that they are assigned to you?

yes...your NetID is assigned to you using your initials and the #

Do you know if my NetID will be the same as my applicant ID?

So I enrolled at Cornell a few days ago and I was wondering when/how do I set up my email id?

And also, I sent the enrollement/admission coupon and deposit via the mail (I believe there wasn't an online way to enroll..was there?) and I was wondering when I would receive confirmation that they received my deposit and acceptance?

Should I call on Monday?

Thanks.

44100Hertz: I heard somewhere that your NetID is the same as your app ID (the part w/ the initials)
