How important is the company where you intern? I live in WV, and I'm sure I could find plenty of internships somewhere in this state, but would an internship at a smaller company still be really good? Or is it super important to find one at a large company?

I just assume I'll have one at a smaller company. That's why I ask.

I think what’s most important is that you get relevant work experience under your belt. From my experience I have seen that recruiters are more impressed by the projects you have worked on than the company that you worked at. I would say aim for both but if you start at a smaller company make an impact and use that experience to work your way up.

Thanks for the reply. That does make me feel better. I believe I’ll be relocating for graduate school in the future, but I’d LIKE to try to not have to relocate for internships if I can avoid it, and I’m almost positive I can find internships in the Huntington-Ashland area. Those internships will be at smaller companies.
