I am a student currently attending a community college, with my current goal being to transfer next fall. As a San Diego resident whose top choice is UCSD, I am left with a quandary about trip organizers for Birthright’s summer trip. I have thought about going with UCSD’s Hillel organization, since they are local and I am looking to go with a group of students my age, but I’m worried about potential awkwardness if I end up being rejected from UCSD (won’t find out until at least mid-March and registration for Birthright opens up in a couple weeks.) So, I’m wondering if there are any other transfer students on here who have had to organize trips while not knowing which schools they have gotten into, as I am not sure what to do and need to select a trip organizer soon to get priority. Thanks in advance for any responses.
I am in a similar situation.
I am hopefully transferring next fall and originally wanted to register for Birthright this summer. I’ve decided to probably wait until the following summer (once I have been at the school for a year) and then going on Birthright. How old are you? You may want to also wait a year - I believe you can go until you are 26.
It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one facing a situation of this sort. I’m 20, and my primary reason for wanting to go this year is because I have never traveled overseas or by myself. Since I will most likely be moving out next year (unless I end up being rejected from all of the schools that I applied to), I feel like the trip would be a good way to get out of my comfort zone before the next transition.
You could also consider going on a general birthright trip instead of one through UCSD! Although going with UCSD would be a wonderful way to meet people before starting college, going with a group of random people would allow you to meet people from all over the country (and maybe even the world!) from a variety of colleges. This could be a great way to network.
Personally, I don’t know what to do either!
