Okay,

So I'm pretty sure that you send the FAFSA to every school that you apply to, right?

I applied to eight public schools and two private schools. So, like I said, I sent the FAFSA to every school.

I have yet to fill out the CSS Profile. It seems that I only need to send it to the private schools, and the more selective public schools (UNC, for example). Is this true? Would the non-selective public schools just require the FAFSA and not the CSS?

Any help is appreciated,
KBronx

Yep, here is the list of schools that require Profile. It’s a pretty short list.

Many schools offer federal financial aid only, or federal aid and limited state aid. All they need for that is FAFSA. Other schools that offer only limited additional aid get by with FAFSA also. The CSS Profile is generally used only by schools that offer significant institutional aid - in other words, the school’s own money. They want to be sure their money is going to students who need it.
